 The Clampit Cemetery at one time was known as the Bedwell Graveyard. On March 30, 1908 William R. Clampit and his wife Rebecca C. Clampit sold 75 acres to Joe Speaks, with the exception of five acres to be known as the Bedwell Graveyard. According to a Modern News article on July 31, 1914, there was to be a graveyard working at the Bedwell Graveyard at the Clampit place near Whitehall.
The earliest known marked graves are those of Fannie P. Killough who died in December of 1845 and John G. Killough who died in January of 1846. DIRECTIONS. At the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 14, take Highway 1 south and go 7.4 miles to Wiley Crossing Road. Turn east off Highway 1 at the Clampit Cemetery sign onto McDermott Road. Go 1.5 miles to the cemetery which is located at the end of this road.
